Motorhome Ski Holiday
Yes indeed it is that time of year again, skiing, snowboarding or whatever takes your fancy. A motorhome ski holiday is pretty good idea if you want to ‘chase the snow’. Each resort is different, some like high altitude snow sure skiing like Tignes and some like gorgeous tree lined runs like Serre Chevalier.
It is worth looking at different pass options, for example the new (ish) HoliSki Pass gives you access to six quite different areas in France, with an excellent discount in each:
- Les Arcs/Peisey-Vallandry
- La Plagne
- Paradiski : Accessible from Les Arcs/Peisey-Vallandry and La Plagne
- Espace Killy : Tignes, Val d’Isère
- Serre Chevalier and
- Le Grand Massif : Flaine, Samoëns, Morillon, Les Carroz, Sixt Fer à Cheval
Nearly all resorts in Europe have space for motorhome parking, some official and some not and there are many private operator campsites near ski stations that are open in the Winter and the fees may sometimes include a discount on the lift pass price. Many Austrian campsites are near ski resorts.
The public ones do tend to be tucked away at the bottom of the resort as they want to keep the carparks in the center available for visitors. Not many of them have full facilities for water and waste disposal (for that you’ll have to go down to warmer areas for the ‘aires’ etc.
Though you may find a coin or card operated power outlet, but these are usually fairly low current supplies. Lots of resorts have public showers and lockers at the ski station (tourist offices and official websites can give you that info) but the German and Austrian resorts are very well served with toilet and shower blocks.
We can supply a fully winterized motorhome for your motorhome ski holiday, so you can be sure you will always be able to get yourself clean, warm and dry. The best thing to do us to call us on 0800 612 8719 and tell us that you are planning a motorhome ski holiday, that way we can find a suitable motorhome equipped for sub zero temperatures ad with plenty of room for your ski gear.
